Understanding Power Quality – Key Terms
Before diving into our solutions, let’s understand some basic power quality concepts:
1. KVA v/s KW
KVA is what you get supplied by the utility, regardless of how much is being effectively used.
For example: Transformers, Generators, UPSKW is what you use. This is the Actual Power that performs useful work.

2. Power Factor (PF)
Power Factor is the ratio of real power (kW) used to do useful work to apparent power (kVA) supplied by the utility.
