The biggest difference is that multiple segments of the tower can be lit at the same time. This approach is often used when 2 Andon messages must be presented at the same time. For example, you might have a scenario to simultaneously indicate the following: "system on" (GREEN), "service needed" (BLUE), and "action stopped" (RED).
You might consider one of the many mounting options available for the tower light, including elevated, angled or ceiling mounting. Another possibility is to consider using another type of Banner multi-color single indicator housing.
Very visible! You'll be able to see the extremely bright tower light over 100 feet away. The lights appear gray when off to increase contrast when they turn on and to prevent false indication from ambient light. The LEDs Banner uses are monochromatic (single color only) LEDs which humans perceive as being brighter.
Banner offers standard versions of tower lights that you can buy off the shelf, but you canchoose your color sequence as long as you are able to meet all applicable requirements from standards agencies. Some standards you might consult are ANSI NFPA 79-2007 and IEC 60204-1.
The TL50 tower lights have a rugged polycarbonate exterior housing that is much stronger than acrylic and use long-life LEDs with over 100,000 hours of life. I doubt you'll need to service your tower light, other than to wipe off the exterior if your factory environment is especially dirty.
It depends on the extent of the damage to the stack light. If it's a bulb that's burned out, swapping out your existing stacked light for a tower light that is more energy efficient, might be more economical and more of a time savings than replacing the remaining bulbs as they burn out.
The main difference between a Banner tower light and a regular industrial stack light is that the tower light is delivered preassembled to the customer. A stack light requires that the customer fit the components together and wire them. The pre-stacked tower lights also offer an easy install, as opposed to the stack light which requires between 15-20 minutes per unit to install.
